There was a short piece in yesterday’s Sunday Times by Trevor White, former editor of The Dubliner. He mentioned how he was asked to chair a panel discussing art, the event itself being sponsored by Barry’s Tea, which has been dabbling in art events over recent times.
Barry’s Tea vetoed two of the artists chosen for the panel. According to White: “If there is a better argument for state funding of the arts, I cannot think of it. We are lucky to live in a country where most discussions about the value of art … are not controlled by people who make teabags."
